'My major weakness? I guess it must be that I sometimes work too hard.' Translation: 'I've just finished reading all the books that I could find on interview preparation, and I've got a really snappy answer for you.' While browsing a newsstand in the airport recently, I noticed a headline on a women's magazine: 'Top 10 Lines to Attract Men.' I wondered if those lines were as much nonsense as the stereotypical pickup lines men use on women"
I have to say if you work in a scientific field and you are at all interested in your salary, I highly recomment you check out this post online.
It is written by someone with experience in both science and salary negotiation. It deals with the real issues... If you are not aiming to be in management, you may be aiming to limit your salary potential. If you are a pure academic, consider the implications, even if you are PhD qualified.. The value that management brings is that they know the dollars and cents value of decisions made by underlings.
If you are at all interested in your career and your salary earnings, check out our site.
There are millions of excellent tips on learning to negotiate your salary like a pro.

Northern Star Online: NIU females learn to negotiate high wages
Northern Star Online: NIU females learn to negotiate high wages: "The lecture was designed to teach women what to look out for in salaries when being hired by a company and how to work up the courage and confidence to negotiate higher wages while being tactful and respectful about it.
Szymczak spoke of her own experience where she had negotiated her salary by proving her true worth to a law firm and wound up earning $8,000 more because of it.The lecture was designed to teach women what to look out for in salaries when being hired by a company and how to work up the courage and confidence to negotiate higher wages while being tactful and respectful about it.
Szymczak spoke of her own experience where she had negotiated her salary by proving her true worth to a law firm and wound up earning $8,000 more because of it."
Now here is an exceptional article about exceptional people moving ahead and asserting their worth. YES, even in this crappy economy, even with the RISK of rejection, some people, and proudly women are taking a stance they deserve more salary.
They are learning how to earn more salary and how to negotiatiate a salary by proving their worth!
I have covered this off ad nauseum before, but knowing your worth and being prepared to defend and to move forward with a position of power is absolutely critical in your salary negotiation game. I recently discovered people of the same level experience are earning $50K more than me, while I am still earning thousands more than people who are more qualified than I am, with higher credentials.
It is imperative to have the skills to navigate the shark filled waters of your career and your salary negotiation.
May the power be with you and may you find your way to the information you need to assist you in your self empowered career mobility.
God Bless.! TDG
